There are a handful of rods in the fly fishing world that become benchmarks for their category. The G. Loomis Asquith is one of them. Built with Shimano's proprietary Spiral X blank, the Asquith is designed for both fresh and saltwater and is widely regarded as one of the finest rods in the game. Whether you're staring down the fish of your life or facing the best Mother Nature has to offer, the Asquith is the rod you want in your hands.

Engineered for Performance

G. Loomis bills the Asquith as one thing: the most technologically advanced fly rod in the world. The tech begins with Shimano's Spiral X blanks, which are rolled in Japan. These blanks utilize carbon tape, which enables outstanding compressed rigidity in all directions. On the water, this translates to a rod that is unbelievably responsive. Although extremely lightweight, the Asquith loads with astonishing strength with barely any demands on the angler. Powerful, accurate casts seem effortless in a way that is sure to feel foreign until you've had an Asquith in hand.

The exceptional feel of this rod translates to more effective casting and fishing. Tight loops come naturally and the line explodes from the rod even with a light touch. Despite the power potential behind each cast, the Asquith somehow sticks the landing with the final piece of the puzzle: accuracy. When you need to make a forty-foot cast to close the gap on a cruising fish or nail the drift in a windy meadow, the Asquith delivers a degree of accuracy that has to be felt to be believed.

Elite Hardware

The Asquith doesn't cut corners anywhere, and that includes the components. SIC Titanium Recoil snake guides allow for excellent line management and exceptionally smooth shooting. The rod is finished with custom aluminum reel seats and full wells flor grade cork grips. The rods are rolled in Kumamoto, Japan, and hand-finished at the G. Loomis facility in Woodland, Washington.

G. Loomis splits the Asquith line into two series: freshwater and saltwater. The saltwater rods get added titanium stripping guides along with a comfortable fighting butt.

Stat Cast

  • 4-7 weights (freshwater trim)

"Powerful, accurate casts seem effortless in a way that is sure to feel foreign until you've had an Asquith in hand. "

The final line

The G. Loomis Asquith sits at the top of the rod market for good reason. If you're looking for a rod that will change how you cast (and hold up to a lifetime of serious fishing) this is the ideal investment for your rod quiver.
